Powered Mobile Equipment (PME) training courses provided by Western Canada Fire & First Aid follow the guidelines and principles outlined in

Excavator
Excavators are earth moving vehicles used in construction for a wide range of jobs like excavation, trenching, digging, lifting, or truck loading.It consists of a boom, bucket, dipper (arm), rotating cab, and movable tracks.
Forklift – Lift Truck
Lift trucks are more commonly referred to as Forklifts. Counterbalance forklifts or lift trucks have a vertical mast, also referred to as an upright mast.
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) are sometimes referred to as Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) and man-lifts.
Skid Steer
A Skid Steer is sometimes referred to as a Compact Track Loader or Bobcat, and can be operated with multiple attachments including a bucket, forks, snow blades, pushers or brooms
Variable Reach Lift Truck
A Variable Reach Lift Truck (VRLT) is a Class VII Rough Terrain Lift Truck and is sometimes referred to as a Telescopic Handler, Telehandler or Zoom Boom. It can be operated with multiple attachments.
Wheel Loader
A Wheel Loader is sometimes referred to as a Front-End Loader, or Articulating Loader and can be operated with multiple attachments including a bucket, forks, grapple, or brooms.

Off-Highway Vehicle Operator
At the end of this course the end-user should be familiar with Utility Task Vehicles (UTV’s), and All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), their basic structural components, basic function, potential hazards while operating, and how to control those hazards.
