Occupational Health and Safety Courses

Occupational health and safety training at Western Canada Fire & First Aid meets or exceeds government or industry requirements. WCFF also offers OSSA and Enform accredited courses.

Ammonia Awareness

Ammonia awareness is designed to educate people who experience Ammonia in the workplace. This 4 hour course covers topics such as product use, accidental release measures and disposal considerations.

Confined Space Pre-Entry (Awareness)

Confined space pre-entry is a seven hour course that will give students the ability to apply information to their specific work-site conditions. Topics such as explaining the definition of a confined space, controlling hazards and emergency response are covered.

Detection & Control of Hazardous Materials

Detection and control of hazardous materials instructs the student on the likely locations and detection of hazardous materials as well as measuring and controlling methods for hazardous vapours. Training for detection and control of hazardous materials is a 4 hour course.

Fall Protection (OSSA Accredited)

Western Canada Fire & First Aid offers OSSA accredited fall protection. This course provides practical and theoretical instruction that includes travel restraint, fall arrest, body holding devices and rescue. Our instructors have been trained by the Fall Protection Group Inc. and adhere to the guidelines set out by the Fall Protection Group Inc and OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association).

Fire Safety (Extinguisher) Course

Fire safety training provides people with information on fire prevention, evacuation and suppression. This 4 hour course also includes an opportunity for the student to extinguish a live fire.

Hydrogen Sulphide Alive (H2S Alive)
Western Canada Fire & First Aid offers the Enform certified Hydrogen Sulphide Alive (H2S Alive). The 8 ½ hour course is designed to improve awareness of the hazards of working in an H2S environment and provide the basic skills necessary to follow a response strategy to rescue a casualty of H2S poisoning.

H2S Awareness

H2S Awareness is a four hour theoretical course that generates awareness of the hazards of working in an H2S environment.

Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Orientation

SCBA orientation is a 6 hour course that covers topics such as legislation, hazardousenvironments and maintenance and operation of the SCBA.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

TDG is a 4 hour course designed for all persons involved in the packaging or offering for transport and the actual transporting of dangerous goods.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

WHMIS is a 4 hour course designed for anyone who deals with hazardous materials will benefit from this program.
