Program Intent
The following courses are made possible through the support of the HEART & STROKE FOUNDATION of Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut and taught to meet the North American guidelines established by the HEART & STROKE FOUNDATION of Canada and the American Heart Association.
It is recommended that annual re-training in CPR is preformed to ensure the quality of skills
are retained. The intent of the program is to provide
the skills necessary to maintain basic life support
for a casualty who is both breathless and pulse-less.
Who Should Attend
This recognized course is designed for people who need
to have CPR & AED training as a condition of employment or for those
who have a general interest in learning CPR and how to use an AED.
Course Content:
Health Care Provider - Level C (approx. 6 Hours) Target Audience: First Responders and Health Care Providers
This course is replacing the Basic Rescuer - Level C CPR course as of January 1, 2007. Skills Include: 1 - rescuer adult/child/infant CPR
2 - rescuer adult/child/infant CPR
adult/child/infant choking
adult/child AED (mandatory)
barrier device/pocket mask
BVM (introduction at a minimum, if professional requirement)
(Update/renewal course approx. 4.5 hours)
To be eligible to attend the "Renewal", your previous Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Rescuer (Level C) or Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider-Level C card must be dated within the past 15 months.
